Devotional | Mari Jackson
Many of us struggle with forgiveness. It is wrong and separates us from God. I struggled with forgiveness at a particular time in my life and was lamenting about it to God. He said, “to take on the offense is greater than the offense itself.” To take on the offense is literally to wear it. It then affects everything you do, everyone you encounter and your relationship with God. It causes a delay in what God is trying to teach you and accomplish in you. He is shaping our character. On going un forgiveness can even end what God is trying to do in you.
Forgiveness can be a long journey. Rarely does it come over night. Depending on the severity of the offense it can take years. As long as your heart is willing, God can walk you through one day at a time.
“For if you forgive me when they sin against you, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” (Matthew 6:14-15).
